Dr. Yasuo Onishi will participate to the IAEA/Ukraine workshop on "Chernobyl Nuclear Plants' Cooling Pond Decommissioning" in Kiev, Ukraine on October 20-22, 2009 requested by the United Nations' International Atomic Energy Agency.
The cooling pond of the Chernobyl nuclear plant is located along the Prypyat River, and has the surface area of 16 km2. It is severely contaminated by radionuclides released from the Chernobyl plant during its accident.
He is one of four non-Ukrainian scientists (two from U.S., and one each from England and France) IAEA requested to participate to the workshop.
